Editor Resources

Journal editors are responsible for following the guidelines for selecting and accepting submitted papers. While experienced researchers and academics may be familiar with these guidelines, they can still be useful for those new to editorial duties.

Please provide an unbiased evaluation without delay. We are open to making any necessary revisions to ensure the desired level of quality. If a manuscript is not within the journal's scope, please respectfully decline it without review. If the submission is rejected, please clearly state the reason and offer guidance on any necessary next steps. For instance, if the rejection is due to language or subject matter, you may suggest editing or specify that the topic is beyond the scope. It is important to maintain a high standard of language quality that is comprehensible to readers globally.

Ethical Obligations:

  • An editor is expected to give fair and impartial consideration to all manuscripts submitted for publication, evaluating each based on its quality and content, without taking into account the author's race, religion, nationality, gender, seniority, or institutional affiliation.
  • Manuscripts submitted for publication should be promptly and thoroughly reviewed by the editor, who holds the sole responsibility for determining their acceptance or rejection. Manuscripts may be declined without review if they are deemed unsuitable for the journal.
  • The editor and members of the editorial team are required to maintain confidentiality regarding any manuscript under consideration, sharing information only with those from whom professional advice is being sought. After a decision has been made, the editor may disclose the titles and authors of accepted papers.
  • An editor should uphold the intellectual independence of authors and respect their work.
  • If an editor authors a manuscript submitted to their own journal, they should delegate editorial responsibility to another qualified individual to avoid any conflict of interest.
  • Unpublished information or interpretations from a submitted manuscript should not be used in the editor's own research without the author's consent.
  • In cases where a manuscript closely relates to the editor's research, creating a conflict of interest, the editor should arrange for another qualified person to assume editorial responsibility for that manuscript.
  • If an editor is presented with compelling evidence that a report published in their journal contains significant errors, they should facilitate the publication of a suitable report or note acknowledging the error and, if possible, correcting it.
  • An author has the right to request that the editor not use specific reviewers in the evaluation of their manuscript.
  • Ideally, an editor should send a PDF, rather than a Microsoft Word or other electronic file, to reviewers and request that comments not be made directly on the electronic copy of the manuscript.
