Eligibility and APC coverage

Individual researchers and students

Individual membership is for independent researchers, faculty and professional chemists. Student membership is for graduate and postgraduate students and requires a brief recommendation from a faculty member, department head or research advisor.

Both categories allow an unlimited number of regular submissions during the active term as an author or co-author. This is a submission allowance, not a guarantee of unlimited accepted publications or automatic APC coverage. Confirm the applicable APC arrangement before submitting. Special Issues are excluded from these two categories.

Institutions and industry

Institutional membership supports universities, research centers and academic departments. Corporate membership is for companies, industrial laboratories and research teams. The article or manuscript allocations are shown in the table.

Institutions may identify participating units and authorized authors and designate a contact to manage eligibility and usage. Any Special Issue coverage should be agreed separately with the editorial office.

Editorial independence

Membership is not required to submit a manuscript or read the journal. It confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member's own work.

The same scientific requirements

Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.

JNDC considers fundamental and applied chemistry, including medicinal chemistry and chemical biology. In every case, chemistry must be the central scholarly contribution. Membership does not broaden the journal's scope or change its reporting and ethics requirements.

Independent peer review

All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.

Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.

Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.

Enrollment, active term and renewal

Before enrollment

Provide the membership category, preferred term and participating author or organization details. The editorial office confirms the applicable amount, eligibility, APC arrangement and next steps. Membership certificates are issued after approval.

During the term

Keep contact and affiliation details current. Identify membership coverage when submitting and ensure that participating co-authors understand the arrangement. Manuscripts must meet the journal's authorship, data, funding and competing-interest requirements.

Term and renewal

Membership provisions must be used within the active term. Unused entitlements do not carry over after the term ends. Late renewal may interrupt access to membership provisions.

The early-renewal reduction is 10% when membership is renewed before the current term expires. The editorial office confirms the renewal amount and term.

Manuscript charges

The standard JNDC APC is USD 2,100; the student rate is USD 900, subject to confirmation of the applicable rate. APCs are requested only after formal acceptance. Membership plan amounts are separate from these per-article rates.

Membership questions

Does membership guarantee acceptance or faster review?

No. Membership does not change editorial criteria, peer-review standards or the handling priority of a manuscript. Each submission is assessed independently.

Does an unlimited submission allowance mean unlimited publication?

No. The individual and student categories do not limit the number of regular submissions, but each manuscript must pass editorial assessment. The editorial office confirms APC coverage for eligible manuscripts under the membership arrangement.

Can more than one department use an institutional plan?

Yes. The institution may define participating units and authorized authors and nominate a contact to coordinate eligibility and usage.

Is the student membership amount the same as the student APC?

No. Student membership covers the stated one- or two-year term. The separate student APC is USD 900 per accepted article when that rate applies; membership coverage should be clarified with the editorial office.
