Editors help maintain the quality and integrity of Journal of New Developments in Chemistry by guiding peer review and ensuring ethical standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Assess scope fit and scientific relevance to chemistry
- Select qualified reviewers and manage the review process
- Provide clear recommendations based on reviewer feedback
- Uphold COPE and ICMJE guidance on ethics and integrity
Evaluation Focus
- Originality, methodological rigor, and transparent reporting
- Complete characterization data and reproducible methods
- Appropriate safety and hazard reporting where relevant
- Data availability statements and reporting checklist compliance
Confidentiality and Conflicts
Editors must treat manuscripts as confidential and disclose conflicts of interest. If a conflict exists, editorial responsibility should be reassigned. The journal uses single blind peer review.
Decisions and Communication
Provide timely, constructive guidance to authors and ensure that decisions are consistent with journal standards. When declining a manuscript, provide clear reasons and recommend next steps when appropriate.
