Aims and Scope

International Journal of Blood Transfusion (IJBT), a comprehensive open-access platform that delves into diverse aspects of hematology, including general and pediatric hematology, transfusion medicine, and cellular therapy. IJBT is dedicated to advancing knowledge in blood safety, collection, and processing, as well as the application of blood components and transfusion products in both clinical and non-clinical settings. Our journal is committed to the development of patient care, education, and practice, alongside the implementation of effective policies, regulations, and procedures, fostering a global forum for researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals to share and collaborate on innovative ideas and discoveries in the field of blood transfusion.

Some of the key areas of focus for IJBT include:

  • Blood donation: This includes research on blood donor recruitment, blood donor health, blood donor demographics, and blood donor retention.
  • Blood banking: This includes research on blood product storage, blood product testing, blood product distribution, and blood product safety.
  • Artificial Intelligence: Submissions focusing on the application of machine learning in blood transfusion diagnostics, donor compatibility, and optimizing transfusion therapies.
  • Blood components: This includes research on the preparation and use of red blood cells, platelets, plasma, and other blood components.
  • Blood safety: This includes research on the prevention of transfusion-transmitted infections, the detection and management of adverse reactions to blood transfusions, and the development of new blood products and technologies to improve blood safety.
  • Transfusion medicine: This includes research on the use of blood transfusions in various medical specialties, such as surgery, oncology, and critical care.
  • Transfusion-related immunology: This includes research on the immune response to blood transfusions, the development of immunological assays for blood banking, and the management of transfusion-related immunological complications.
