Biography
Dr. Gehad Abdel Jaleel is affiliated with the National Research Centre in Giza, Egypt, where she earned her PhD. Her research focuses on natural products and phytochemical interventions in experimental models of metabolic and oxidative stress-related disorders, including diabetes, aging, and drug-induced toxicity. She has investigated the therapeutic potential of diverse compounds ranging from plant extracts such as grape seed, kava kava, and Cynara scolymus to algal sources like Haematococcus pluvialis, as well as synthetic steroidal derivatives with progestational and antiproliferative activities. Her most-cited work, published in 2018, examines the hepatoprotective effects of astaxanthin-rich Haematococcus pluvialis in D-galactose-induced aging in rats, highlighting the role of the Nrf2 pathway, and has been cited 20 times.
