Overview
Plant resistance to abiotic stress is an important aspect of plant health and productivity. Abiotic stress can include environmental factors such environmental changes, extreme temperatures, and drought. Plants have evolved several strategies to survive such changes and thrive in their environment, such as being able to tolerate and adapt to extreme temperatures, drought, and other environmental challenges. Plant resistance to abiotic stress allows for plant species to survive and even thrive in harsh environmental conditions. This makes it a vital component of global food security and sustainable agriculture. Plants with resistance to abiotic stress can also be more nutritious, have higher yields, better water use efficiency, and have improved pest resistance. With improved resistance to abiotic stress, plants are less susceptible to disease and thus can contribute to healthier, more nutritious food production.
