Soil Surveying and Mapping

Soil surveying and mapping is an important discipline in environmental science and agriculture. It involves the systematic collection and interpretation of soil data and its representation on maps or digital models. By observing the surface, subsurface, and terrain characteristics of soils, soil surveyors can identify and classify the soil types found in a given area, which provides valuable insight for land-use planning and sustainable management of soils. Soil survey maps help farmers and agricultural professionals to choose the best type of land for specific crops, and can help identify land that is at risk of erosion or contamination. Additionally, soil survey and mapping can be used to assess land suitability for construction, evaluate water resources, and also provide information to support environmental impact assessments.
