The Journal of Plant and Animal Ecology is fully open access: every article is free to read, with no subscription and no charge to the reader. Publication is funded instead by an article processing charge, and this page explains when that charge arises and where its current terms are set out.
When a charge arises
What authors pay, and when
An article processing charge applies after a manuscript has been accepted for publication. No charge is raised for submitting a manuscript or for having one assessed.
The article processing charge for this journal is USD 1,800. It falls due once a manuscript has been accepted, and payment terms and institutional arrangements are administered by the publisher on the Open Access Pub article processing charges page.
Decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships, and editorial or reviewer roles. Assessment, review and the editorial decision are complete before any charge is raised.
Withdrawal
Withdrawing a manuscript
- Authors should contact the editorial office promptly and wait for written confirmation before submitting the work elsewhere.
- Manuscripts withdrawn within 3 days of submission are not subject to a withdrawal charge.
- Manuscripts withdrawn more than 3 days after submission incur a withdrawal charge equal to 30% of the journal's APC.
- Authors must receive official withdrawal confirmation before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
