Indexing, identifiers and preservation

Where the journal’s metadata goes, which identifiers it carries, and how the record is preserved. Each of these is a different thing, and they are set out separately.

Identifiers

Journal and article identifiers

Journal identifier

The journal is registered with the ISSN 2688-5328, which is the identifier to use when citing or cataloging the title.

DOI registration

Open Access Pub registers article DOIs with Crossref under the prefix 10.14302/issn.2688-5328. Registration is carried out per article, and a DOI resolves once the deposit has been processed. Checked on 23 September 2026, eight of the journal’s ten published records resolved at Crossref.

What DOI registration provides

Registration gives each registered article a persistent identifier and a stable link to it. That function is distinct from selective journal-level indexing or database inclusion, which is recorded separately in the section below.

Discovery

Metadata harvesting and discovery services

Metadata harvesting

The publisher operates an OAI-PMH endpoint, which allows libraries, aggregators and repositories to harvest the journal’s article metadata in a standard form.

Discovery services

Article pages carry structured citation metadata of the kind discovery services read. Whether a particular service has ingested this journal is a question for that service, and the journal publishes a claim only where the status has been confirmed with the service itself.

Verified journal-level indexing

This section lists the selective journal-level indexes that have confirmed coverage of the title, checked with each service directly. It was last reviewed on 23 September 2026 and stands empty until a service confirms.

Funder deposit

PubMed Central through NIHMS

Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS).

This route is for the individual manuscript and is driven by the funding attached to it. It is a deposit made for one article, and it is a different thing from a journal being indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE or PubMed Central.

Preservation

Keeping the record available

Preservation is what keeps an article readable after the people and systems that published it have moved on.

This journal’s content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.
