Disease Gastrointestinal disease, commonly referred to as GI disease, is a group of disorders that affect the digestive tract and organs of the body responsible for digestion. Symptoms of GI disease may range from mild to severe, including abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and changes in stool consistency. Depending on the type of GI disease, treatments may include dietary changes, lifestyle modification, medications, and in serious cases, surgery. It is estimated that 25-30% of people experience GI disease in their lifetime, making it one of the most common types of medical disorders. GI disease can be caused by many factors including infections, food intolerance, autoimmune disorders, and even genetic factors. Early treatment and management of GI disease is essential for preventing more serious long-term health complications.
