  • Read maths with postgraduate statistics at Oxford University
  • Worked for tobacco research/advisory council 1966-1979
  • In 1979 became independent consultant in medical statistics and adviser in epidemiology and toxicology
  • Formed P.N.Lee Statistics and Computing Ltd in 1984
  • Has published five books and almost 250 papers
  • British chess champion in 1965, played for England 1965-1971
  • British bridge champion in 2003 and 2011
