Current Special Issue calls

No active call is currently verified

IJGH has no active Special Issue call in its current journal record. This page will list a call only after its topic, named Guest Editor, affiliation, ORCID, scope and dates have been approved and verified.

A general manuscript that fits IJGH should be submitted through the regular submission pathway rather than described as a Special Issue submission.

What a Special Issue is

A Special Issue brings together research around a defined population-health, epidemiological, disease-surveillance or health-systems question. It does not create a separate journal, a different evidence standard or an expedited editorial route.

Scope

The topic and every included manuscript must fit the published Aims and Scope.

Evidence standard

The same authorship, ethics, reporting, data and research-integrity policies apply.

Peer review

Single-blind (double-blind on request), with independent handling and reviewer selection.

Editorial decision

Guest Editors advise within the approved remit; the journal retains oversight and decision accountability.

Proposal requirements

  • A concise title and rationale for the proposed population-level question
  • A defined scope, exclusions and relationship to the journal’s four core domains
  • Named proposed Guest Editor with current affiliation, ORCID and relevant publications
  • Disclosure of financial, professional and personal interests
  • A realistic proposed schedule without promises of accelerated review
  • A plan for reaching an appropriate scholarly community without guaranteed submissions
  • Confirmation that no fee, sponsorship, role or service will influence review or acceptance

Send an initial expression of interest to [email protected]. An expression of interest does not create a call or appointment.

Editorial governance

Guest Editor vetting

The editorial office verifies identity, affiliation, ORCID, expertise, publication record and conflicts before appointment.

Conflicted submissions

A Guest Editor does not handle their own work or a submission involving a close collaborator; an independent editor is assigned.

Reviewer selection

Reviewers are selected for relevant expertise and independence, not for an expected recommendation.

Commercial independence

Sponsorship, payment, APC status, waivers, membership or publisher services do not affect review or acceptance.

Changes or cancellation

The journal may revise or withdraw a call if governance, scope, participation or integrity requirements are not met.

For prospective authors

Only use the Special Issue designation when a call is listed as active on this page. Review the call’s exact scope, then follow the standard Instructions for Authors and Editorial Policies. Submission to a collection does not guarantee external review or acceptance.

Submit regular IJGH research

With no active Special Issue call, suitable manuscripts should use the journal’s standard submission route.
