A peer-reviewed, open access journal publishing research on stem cell identity, self-renewal and fate, on the experimental systems that make those processes measurable, and on carefully evaluated translation.
What the journal publishes
Stem cell science, from mechanism to evaluated translation
JESR publishes work on how a stem or progenitor state is defined, held and resolved — and on the culture systems, organoids, reporters and lineage-tracing tools that make those questions answerable. Fundamental and mechanistic studies are the journal's core subject, not a preliminary to applied work.
Translational research is published as one part of the same field, with the design that produced it stated plainly. The journal asks that conclusions match the evidence: a result in one model system is reported as a result in that system, and an early clinical series as an early series.

- How it is assessed
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Those decisions remain independent of fees, services, memberships and roles.
- Review model
- Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
- Open access
- Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). An article processing charge of USD 1,499 is invoiced only after acceptance.
- Submission
