Ongoing Special Issues

Journal of Aging Research And Healthcare currently hosts the following special issues focused on aging research and healthcare priorities.

Special Issue 1: Hip Fractures and Their Causes and Prevention

Guest Editor: Dr. Ray Marks

This special issue invites original papers with important and novel contributions related to hip fractures, their causes, and prevention strategies. Reviews, original research papers, short communications, and letters are welcome.

Topics of interest include: hip fractures, prevention, intervention, second hip fractures, and falls prevention.

Why this issue matters: Hip fractures remain a major health challenge in aging populations and are associated with high morbidity, reduced quality of life, and increased mortality. This issue welcomes studies that identify modifiable risk factors and effective prevention strategies, including primary and secondary prevention for repeat fractures. Work addressing muscle-related factors, obesity, vitamin D, nutrition, comorbid illness, depression, and medication use is encouraged.

Reviews with comparative perspectives, original research papers, short communications, and letters on new developments are welcome. Manuscripts should be written in clear English with structured headings and subheadings.

Special Issue 2: Genetic and Non-Genetic Tools to Combat Aging-Associated Diseases

Guest Editor: Dr. Aurel Popa Wagner

This special issue calls for original papers with important and novel contributions related to genetic and non-genetic tools to combat aging-associated diseases.

Topics of interest include: Alzheimer's disease, cardiovascular disease, pharmacological treatments including senolytics and geroprotectors, and cancers.

Why this issue matters: Aging-associated diseases pose significant health challenges worldwide and require multifaceted solutions. Genetic tools include gene therapy, gene editing, and stem cell approaches, while non-genetic tools include lifestyle interventions, pharmacological treatments, and advanced diagnostics. This issue welcomes research that advances prevention, treatment, and translation of these approaches into clinical or community care.

We encourage high-quality submissions that compare genetic and non-genetic strategies and clarify their practical relevance for aging populations.

All submissions undergo standard peer review, and accepted articles are published in Journal of Aging Research And Healthcare. Authors should follow the Instructions for Authors, include reporting checklists when relevant, and provide a Data Availability Statement where applicable.

Submissions to ongoing special issues follow standard peer review and journal policies. Indicate the special issue title in the Cover Letter field during submission, as advised by editors.
